About

The story is...

Erica Walker is a 48 year old Registered Nurse and her husband Mick is Laurieton's local Police Seargent. They have three kids living at home with them, 17 yo twins Tom and Matilda and 19 yo Jack.

Less than 2 months ago, Erica, affectionately known as Ric, was still nursing at a local doctors surgery when she became unwell and was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Since than Ric has lost the use of her left arm and is unsteady on her feet. There is a risk of seizures so she is not allowed to be left by herself and Mick has taken time off work to be at her side 24/7. Last week she underwent surgery in RPA to remove what was possible of the tumour and she will start radiation and chemotherapy on her return to Port Macquarie this week.

Around ten years ago the Walker's bought an old farm property with the plan to renovate the house. Shortly after, Mick became unwell with Lyme disease and has been unable to take on the task of the renovation. Their son Jack says that for years his parents have been making plans of what they will do when Mick is better. Unfortunately Ric is now unwell and the renovations have had to be postponed again.

As a community we would like to raise enough money to help them financially through Ric's treatment as well as renovate the house to make it safe for her to live in. There will be an outdoor concert held in the Camden Haven with auctions and raffles. We appreciate any support offered in the way of donations of time, money, materials and skills. Let's do what we do best as a community and pull off something amazing for this family who are very much loved and valued in our town.
